Sister Kathleen McCarthy, Scholastic

On March 15, 2019 Sister Kathleen McCarthy made her first profession of monastic vows in the chapel at Mount St. Benedict Monastery, Erie, PA. Sister Kathleen professed stability, obedience and fidelity to the monastic way of life with the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, for a period of three years. With this profession she enters the Scholasticate, the third stage of initial monastic formation. She will continue her study of the monastic way of life and discern a permanent commitment guided by Sister Diane Rabe, Scholastic Director, while also engaging in full time ministry. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Sister Kathleen was part of the L’Arche community in Erie for many years before moving to L’Arche Calgary, Canada where she spent the 16 years preceding her entrance into the community. She Kathleen is now in fulltime ministry with Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA) as a Direct Support Professional in their Options Program.
