Feast of St Scholastica
Today we celebrate St. Scholastica, twin sister of St. Benedict, who led a woman's monastery near St. Benedict's monastery in early 6th century Italy. Although only her reputation as a faithful and holy woman is all that made history books, Benedictines around the world honor her memory today. The Federation of St. Scholastica, to which the Erie Benedictines belong, is celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2022 with a Colloquium, Benedictine Life: A Vision Unfolding, in our effort to faithfully discern our call as we create the future of those who follow Benedict and Scholastica. The Colloquium, June 21-24, is open to the public.
