Pray for Peace in Ukraine: Special Silent Peace Walk
Benedictines for Peace will host a special Silent Peace Walk for those suffering in Ukraine on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Perry Square (meet near the stage).
Our monthly Silent Peace Walks promote peace in the midst of fear, divisions, and hatred. This month, our simple, silent, public vigil will be for the intention of peace in Ukraine and an end to the Russian invasion. We will especially be mindful of those suffering from the violent attack, victims of injury and death, those seeking refuge, those trying desperately to protect their children. We will also remember those citizens in Russia who, despite great risk to themselves and their families, are protesting their leader's decision to attack Ukraine. And we will pray for all political leaders that they choose the ways of dialogue and diplomatic resolution of conflict.
The Silent Peace Walk will begin and end with a peace poem followed by walking silently, slowly, single-file, following the person carrying the Silent Peace Walk sign for 20 minutes. All are welcome to join this simple, public nonviolent action for peace.
