Oblate Profile
I have made Maine my permanent residence since 2002. I was born in Pennsylvania but my family of origin has lived in Maine since we moved here in 1966. I spent time in other places as a young adult. I went to college in Massachusetts (Smith) as well as seminary (Andover Newton) I was ordained in the UCC in 1982. In I served churches in Wisconsin and Michigan before realized that the ministry wasn't for me in fact being Protestant wasn't for me. I was received into the Catholic Church in 1999
Why are you an oblate?
I have been attracted to the Benedictine charism for many years but only have spent time studying it for the last 15 or so. I would have pursued becoming a Sister had not issues in my own life made that impossible. I was thrilled to find that there was a lay option. I am an oblate because I admire the Benedictine Way of Life and the ways in which I can participate in it as a lay person.
