Tell us something about yourself

What defines me the most is being my parents' 24/7 caregiver for 24 years. My last surviving parent, Mom, died in February 2018.

I'm single. Retired from a large library system in Akron at age 50, because something needed to give during my caregiving work.

Why are you an oblate?

I became an oblate in 1993. The Erie Benedictines are very important to me. The aspects of their charism that have been part of MY personality (I think of charism as "personality") are "hospitality" and "women/social justice issues". Until recently I have been unable to offer hospitality in a home since I lived with my mother in HER home. So I've tried to be a person others might be comfortable around. I speak out in various ways about social injustices, esp to those who have a public voice.
