2023 Community Retreat: Benedictinism and Synodality

Sisters and oblates celebrate the closing of retreat.

Oblate Kelly Adamson, seated at left, served as retreat leader for the 2023 Erie Benedictine Community Retreat. In 10 short sessions over five days Kelly led sisters and oblates gathered at the monastery and others attending via Zoom on a pilgrimage that she titled, "Benedictine Women in a Synodal Church: Gifts for the Pilgrim Journey."

Every year sisters and oblates gather at the monastery for this annual retreat; this year, because of  the important and timely theme of the retreat, the sisters opened the sessions to anyone who wished to register.

Sister Ann Muczynski, Director of Monastic Formation, thanked Kelly at the conclusion of the retreat for challenging participants to "speak and listen with courage and to see where love will lead us as Benedictines and as a Church. As Benedictines we are called to offer our gifts to others."

Kelly is Director of Residence Life Ministry and Director of the Campus Ministry Graduate Assistant Program at the University of Dayton. She is a long-time oblate and holds an MA in theology from Xavier University. Her BA is in psychology. She has a Post-Master’s Certificate in the Practice of Spirituality from Boston College.
