East Erie Moose Club gift

Michelle Basista receives East Erie Moose Club gift for Benedictine Sisters of Erie

The Erie Benedictines are grateful to our neighbors down the street, East Erie Moose Family Center #593, for their generous donation to Mount Saint Benedict Monastery and the Benedictine Sisters' Benetwood Apartments. "This gift from the East Erie Moose will support the Benedictine Sisters in our efforts to serve those most in need in our city. We are grateful that you share our mission of outreach and for your generosity," said Michelle Basista, CFRE, Development Associate with the Benedictine Sisters, as she accepted the awards.

Jim Stewart, president of East Erie Moose, welcomed representatives of more than 40 non-profits including local sports and school groups, volunteer firefighters, and many other organizations in service to people in need and to animals, to the award ceremony last week where $86,000 was distributed. "This is the sixth year we are able to give back to our local community," he said, explaining that the funds are generated from the club's gaming activities. Sixty per cent of those funds return to the community.

Over the past six years, the organization has given away more than $773,000 and they will continue to offer awards to the local community, Jim said.

The mission of East Erie Moose is "To have fun while providing greater service to the Moose fraternity." Visit the East Erie Moose Facebook page to learn more. A news report of the award ceremony is here.
