Listen to "Rewiring God: Teilhard, AI, and the Future of Faith"

Robert Nicastro discusses his presentation with a few participants.

Last month Erie native and Benedictine friend Dr. Robert Nicastro, Executive Director of the Center for Christogenesis, presented "Rewiring God: Teilhard, AI, and the Future of Faith" at the monastery to about fifty sisters and guests. His presentation is available in audio format here.

Connecting the 1,500 Benedictine tradition to the thinking of Teilhard de Chardin and the grounding we need today, Robert said in his opening remarks, "This thinking finds its most natural home in Benedictine soil. Benedict embedded in his Rule an insight that illuminates what we will discuss--the sacred is found not by fleeing the material world, but by engaging it."

The many concepts he then presented during his talk aren’t easily boiled down in neat synthesis—but that didn't stop the many listeners finding energy in new thoughts and new ways of looking at the world around us and God’s presence in every aspect of that world—and beyond. Dualist thinking has kept us boxed in for too long, matter and spirit are not separate, every aspect of creation is infused with spirit. To learn more, visit the Center for Christogenesis.

The presentation was part of the curriculum for the Benedictine Peacemakers Program. The curriculum will at times be open to the public, be sure you are on our email list to receive notification of formation opportunities.
