NETWORK's Erie Chapter and Benedictines for Peace invite you to take part in a gathering on Friday, January 9, 2026: "You Are Not Alone," Community Witness for Immigrants, Migrants, and Refugees. We will gather at Perry Square directly across from, and facing, the Federal Courthouse at 12:15 p.m., ending about 12:45 p.m. This will be the first of monthly gatherings on the second Friday each month in the winter, and we hope we can expand to witness on a more frequent basis in the spring.
Our faith traditions call us to love and care for others, especially the vulnerable and marginalized. We recognize the God-given dignity of every person. We claim our community as a place of welcome. We choose hope and unity over division and fear, which so many experience through the threat of deportation or family separation. These monthly gatherings may include Scripture, song, intercessions, sharing of experiences and suggestions for advocacy. Respectful, nonviolent signs are permitted. It is important to note that these gatherings are a peaceful effort to deepen our awareness of the injustices suffered by members of our community and are not rallies or protests. In regular public witness we show our support for our neighbors and send a strong statement to our elected decision-makers to legislate for the common good, with fairness and compassion.
Please share this event with others.
