On January 27, about 25 people including Erie Benedictine Sisters and friends joined this year's Benedictine Peacemakers cohort for a movie night at the monastery. The crowd enjoyed popcorn while watching the PBS documentary "Revolution of the Heart: The Dorothy Day Story."
Dorothy Day was an American journalist and lay leader who founded the Catholic Worker Movement -- a movement that admires and is inspired by Jesus Christ's charity and craving for justice. It encourages people to strive for many compassionate practices, with nonviolence at the forefront, for "Only through nonviolent action can a personalist revolution come about, one in which one evil will not simply be replaced by another."
Conversation continued after the film about how to love radically for others and with others today.
This gathering was a part of the Benedictine Peacemaker's weekly curriculum. For more information on applying for next year's Benedictine Peacemaker cohort, visit here.
