Sisters Marian Wehler, OSB, and Tina Gieger, RSM, are employees of Catholic Rural Ministries who recently spent time at St. Joseph Catholic School in Lucinda, Pennsylvania.
The sisters encouraged the students to create essays centered around Earth Day in order to explore their role in caring for God's creation. They also held retreats for the children in First Reconciliation classes.
While in Lucinda, Sisters Marian and Tina also organized a project to help families and schools in Tanzania gain access to clean water. The students raised money for the cause, inspired by the sisters' mission trips. They shared photos and experiences from past mission trips, including Sr. Marian's seven years spent in Tanzania itself. This allowed students to see how compassion and selflessness positively impacts others' lives, and helped them realize how their own donations will better the lives of others.
Both staff and students were incredibly grateful to the sisters and the lasting impact they had on St. Joseph Catholic School.
