The Benedictine Sisters of Erie will continue to offer prayers and support to the ten victims, including children and an unborn baby, of last night's horrific gun violence at a home on Erie's east side. This is our neighborhood, we have ministered among the families of Erie's east side for decades and will continue to be present among our neighbors during this time of suffering and grief. We join Mayor Devlin in prayer for grieving families, friends, and neighbors and in gratitude for first responders and for the outpouring of support from within our city and state. None of us can make sense of such a tragedy; we turn to each other and our God finding strength in community as we continue to show up for each other and recommit ourselves to working for nonviolence in our city and our world.
