Brigid Retreat: January 31, 2026, 1-7 PM
Bring fire and warmth to your wintery hearth and join us for a spiritual celebration and retreat on the eve of the Feast of St Brigid on January 31.
St. Brigid of Kildare, 5th Century monastic founder, is intimately connected with the Celtic goddess, Brigid, also celebrated Feb. 1, the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. St. Brigid brought the eternal flame of the goddess, Brigid, to her people as the light of Christ and the fire of love. Both saint and goddess are known for compassion, care for the vulnerable, peace, and deep connection to the earth and all of creation.
Our Brigid Retreat will start at 1:00 p.m. with scones and Irish music. The program content, built around the life and legend of Brigid, will include prayer, song, and story-telling. We will weave Brigid crosses before enjoying a light supper and, weather-permitting, an outdoor fire and water blessing. We will conclude at 7 p.m.
The retreat will be held at Glinodo Conference Center, 6270 E Lake Road, across from Mount St. Benedict Monastery overlooking Lake Erie.
