Benedictines for Peace and the Care for the Earth Committee sponsored an Earth Day Observance at the monastery titled Healing Our Throwaway Culture: Focus on Plastics. The program was borrowed from Catholic Climate Covenant and the resources shared are available here.

After an opening prayer, those gathered viewed short video, Plastic Pollution, Explained from Environmental Health News. Additional input included short readings from Paul's letter to the Romans, Franciscan Ilia Delio, and Pope Francis, each followed by reflection questions. In small groups, participants discussed commitments they could make to address these concerns at both the individual and the system level.
